Introducing 'The Well' Town Chaplaincy Service

Pastor Jo Pratt has been credentialed by Elim Church Inc. as the Chaplain for Pontarddulais Town. Our aim is to serve the people of  Pontarddulais and the surrounding areas with a team of volunteer chaplains who express God’s love, by visiting workplaces, schools, colleges and the community, providing support and encouragement. Volunteer chaplains will be out and about in the town centre to be a friendly presence for shoppers and others visiting or working in the town. Through simple friendships chaplains are able to offer an independent, impartial and confidential ear for those who want personal support and can also be made available to those who want to discuss spiritual needs or receive prayer.

Matthew 25:34-40

For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.

Chaplaincy is a slow-burn ministry. Nothing happens quickly. It takes time to build up a rapport with people and earn their trust. But when they feel that they can come to a chaplain with something that is troubling them, it is a very special moment! It is a privilege to be able to listen and support people in their time of difficulty and need. It is what the work is all about – showing people God’s love and care in a simple, but hopefully effective way.

If you would like to get involved with or contact the Chaplaincy Team then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

From December 2017 we are aiming to make videos of our services (including the sermons) available on Youtube.
